Quartz

Quartz is a man-made, factory-engineered material made from about 93-94 percent ground quartz (the remaining 6-7 percent is polyester resins for binding and recycled glass or metallic flecks for aesthetics and appearance).

The countertops can be uniform in color and pattern, with many different shades to choose from, so your kitchen design options are limitless. Quartz countertops are known for being durable and rank No. 7 on Mohs hardness scale.

The countertops are heat, scratch, and stain resistant and require very little maintenance. Because they are nonporous, the counters do not need to be sealed or treated. This is an added advantage because that also makes it more difficult for mold, mildew, and bacteria to grow.

Quartz countertops are environmentally friendly and comparable in cost to granite.

Granite

Granite is one of the most popular countertop materials and provides a spectacular look that many other countertop materials cannot top. One of the many advantages to granite countertops is it is resistant to stains and when it is properly sealed it doesn’t absorb liquids.

Granite is a great option for kitchens thanks to its durability. It is impervious to heat and not susceptible to scratches. Further, the natural stone that comes in a variety of colors from black to white and almost all colors in between, tends to add a high resale value to homes.

Corian

Corian is a synthetic, solid, nonporous, surface countertop material developed by Dupont. One of the many advantages of Corian is that the countertops feature a nearly seamless joint.

Corian is also extremely durable and easy to maintain. It is stain, heat, and sunlight resistant. It comes in a variety of colors that do not fade or change from wear and tear.

Although Corian is a strong material, direct heat and sharp objects should be avoided as they could cause damage.
